Plein Air Easton is the most prestigious outdoor painting competition in the country and attracts accomplished artists, art enthusiasts, and collectors from all over the world.
Held in Talbot County, the town of Easton, and surrounding communities over a ten-day period each July, this festival provides artists with a unique opportunity to capture the scenic beauty and vibrant atmosphere of Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The region's picturesque landscapes, charming towns, historic buildings, waterways, agricultural tradition, and rural scenery serve as inspiration.
Throughout the festival there are workshops, demonstrations, lectures, and exhibitions by renowned artists, providing valuable learning opportunities for both participants and the public. Art lovers have the chance to view and purchase the freshly painted artwork during public exhibitions. See our Travel Guide for event details and information on our participating artists.
Plein Air Easton celebrates outdoor painting and promotes the cultural and historical significance of the Eastern Shore region. It fosters a sense of community, creativity, and appreciation for the arts, making it a popular and engaging event for all who participate.
True to the Vaudevillian roots of the Theatre, the Avalon offers live theatrical performances throughout the year. With its intimate setting, artistic excellence, and commitment to community involvement, the Theatre continues to be a premier destination for performing art enthusiasts in the region.
The Avalon's annual holiday musical is a delightful and enchanting experience that captures the spirit of the holiday season. Elaborate sets, beautiful costumes, and stunning lighting create a visually immersive experience that is a time-honored tradition that celebrates the magic of the season and creates lasting memories for friends and families.
Beyond these annual productions and our Children's Theatre Productions, the Avalon also books touring theatrical performances and works with other theatre troupes to bring outside productions to our stage.
The Easton Farmers Market is a vibrant and bustling celebration of local agriculture, culinary delights, and small businesses. Farmers from around the Eastern Shore showcase and sell their bountiful harvests of fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers, locally-sourced meats, seafood, dairy products, and artisanal cheeses. Beyond the farm-fresh produce, the market is a hub for local artisans, bakers, entrepreneurs and culinary entrepreneurs who provide bread, pastries, honey, jams, craft beverages and other delectable treats.
Live music enhances the spirited ambiance of the market, making it the place to connect with local producers and artisans, meet friends and neighbors, and gain a deeper appreciation for the region's agricultural heritage.

We could not make this Festival happen without sponsorship and we are so grateful for For All Seasons, the Talbot County Department of Social Services, Talbot Family Network, Talbot Arts and the Town of Easton.
To think that we could pull off any event without the support of Mayor Megan Cook and the Town of Easton would be an understatement…from Lorraine at Parks & Recreation to the team at Easton Police Department to the crew at Public Works, we are so thankful for your support. Thank you to Easton Utilities for making sure we have electric in the Park, Talbot Arts & the Maryland State Arts Council for their continued support and lastly to our friends at the Chesapeake Multicultural Festival Resource Center who are always terrific partners.
On behalf of the Avalon Foundation Staff & Board, we thank you for being part of such a wonderful day of community and celebrating one another.
Every summer, the Avalon Foundation organizes a free outdoor concert series on Harrison Street between Dover and Goldsborough. These concerts feature a wide range of musical genres and talented artists designed to appeal to our diverse community. Attendees can enjoy a picnic dinner and live music in a welcoming space.
The outdoor concert series is a testament to the foundation's commitment to promoting arts, enriching the community, and creating unforgettable moments that resonate with attendees long after the final notes have faded away.
This series would not be possible without the support of Marquee Sponsors Talbot Arts, The Town of Easton, & Tidewater Inn.
For questions regarding the Outdoor Concert Series, email our event organizer.
